Meditab Software, alongside Nexus HR and Vitalant, will be hosting its first blood drive this December in Sacramento, California. If you are in the area, we invite you to join us!
- Date: Thursday, December 2nd, 2021
- Time: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Place: Parking lot of 1420 River Park Drive, Sacramento, CA 95815
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of blood donations has significantly declined. Vitalant, the nation’s largest independent nonprofit blood services provider, issued a critical blood shortage alert in June 2021. That’s why Meditab and Nexus HR decided to organize this event to do our part to help with the blood supply.
Pre-registration is officially open on Vitalant’s registration portal now. Walk-ins are welcome, but booking an appointment in advance helps us maintain social distancing guidelines. Donors are asked to bring a photo ID, eat and drink plenty of water beforehand, and wear a mask or cloth face covering. Vitalant, Nexus HR, and Meditab will be giving out $5 Amazon gift cards and other goodies as small tokens of our appreciation.
Each time a healthy adult donates blood, they can save up to three lives. Blood transfusions are necessary for numerous routine and emergency procedures and to treat various illnesses and bodily injuries. The need for donors is more crucial now than ever before. Approximately 37% of people are eligible to give blood, but less than 10% yearly actually donate. Since 2020, that number has dropped.
A typical blood donation only takes around an hour or so to complete. An hour is so little when you compare it to a lifetime. We never truly know if we or someone we love might be the one in need of blood at some point down the road.
If you would like to help, we encourage you to share the news about this event and others on social media. Follow Meditab and Nexus HR on Facebook for the latest updates regarding this and future events.
